the great movies of 2016 ("going in my blu-ray collection")

This list is limited to the movies I watched in theaters. A number next to the movie title indicates if I saw a movie multiple times in the cinema. These are categorized in alphabetical order, and for more info on the somewhat self-explanatory categories, click here to read more about them. Thanks for reading and make sure to let me know what you think about the list and my choices, and we can discuss!

GOING IN MY BLU RAY COLLECTION

Allied

Intense and anchored by Cotillard’s acting.

Deadpool (2)

A unique and surprisingly emotional take on the superhero genre that kept me laughing.

Deepwater Horizon

I don’t think I moved this whole movie. Just clenched and never let go.

The Edge of Seventeen

So real; Steinfeld is so damn good in this.

Elle

Extremely twisted, intense and compelling.

The Hateful Eight (2)

Stunningly beautiful, sprawling and claustrophobic at the same time with a cast that had no weak links.

The Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Heartwarming journey that was just so damn fun.

Kubo and the Two Strings

Beautiful film that hits you hard right in the feels.

Nocturnal Animals

Deep and so damn dark; lots of layers that will keep your mind on this for days.

Patriots Day

An inspiring story of the goodness in humanity and community.

Star Trek Beyond

Great time in the theater, had so much fun being with each character and their respective pairings.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (4)

Rey is bae.

Stay tuned for the next article where I'll share which movies I saw in theaters that fell into the "Best of the Best" category!
